Mission & Goals
SOLAR MATERIALS GmbH develops and operates a patented thermomechanical process for the recovery of high-value materials from end-of-life photovoltaic modules. The company recovers silver (an EU critical raw material under the CRMA), silicon, glass, aluminium, and copper at high purity, contributing to closed material loops at industrial scale. SOLAR MATERIALS engages at EU level to promote regulatory frameworks that incentivise high-quality recycling over lower-quality treatment methods. Priority areas include the revision of the WEEE Directive, the Critical Raw Materials Act, and the Circular Economy Act. The company is headquartered in Magdeburg, Germany, and employs approximately 65 people. Additional production sites are under development.
