EU Legislative Interests

Main EU legislative proposals or policies targeted: 1.Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) Soft & Solution is actively involved in shaping the digital transformation of businesses in Albania and the Western Balkans. We aim to influence the implementation of the Digital Services Act by engaging with EU decision-makers on issues related to the regulation of online platforms and digital services, particularly in the context of smaller markets like Albania. Soft & Solution participates in public consultations and collaborates with industry groups to ensure that the Act’s provisions are aligned with the needs of local businesses. 2.General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) As an IT services provider, Soft & Solution is deeply involved in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. We aim to influence ongoing discussions on the regulation of data privacy in Europe, particularly in relation to how GDPR affects digital financial services and the public sector. Soft & Solution engages in policy discussions, attends relevant consultations, and collaborates with local authorities to help shape regulations in ways that benefit both businesses and consumers. 3.EU Cybersecurity Act (Regulation (EU) 2019/881) and NIS2 Directive (Directive (EU) 2022/2555) Soft & Solution is a key player in the cybersecurity space in Albania. We monitor and aim to influence EU cybersecurity legislation, especially in relation to the NIS2 Directive and the Cybersecurity Act, to advocate for balanced regulations that enable the growth of digital services while ensuring robust cybersecurity protections. Soft & Solution works with industry groups, participates in EU consultations, and supports policy initiatives that improve local cybersecurity resilience. 4.Artificial Intelligence Act (Proposal COM/2021/206 final) Soft & Solution aims to influence the legislative process surrounding the Artificial Intelligence Act by contributing to discussions on AI’s role in digital public services, automation, and financial technologies. We engage with EU stakeholders through workshops and public consultations, aiming to ensure that the regulatory framework supports innovation in AI while protecting users and fostering fair competition. 5.Directive 2014/24/EU on public procurement Soft & Solution works with public sector organizations and is directly involved in digital procurement processes. We aim to influence the modernization of EU public procurement rules to facilitate the adoption of digital solutions in government procurement practices. We participate in public consultations and collaborate with EU bodies to ensure that digital solutions are integrated into public procurement legislation, making it more efficient and transparent. 6.Horizon Europe (Regulation (EU) 2021/695) Soft & Solution follows Horizon Europe funding opportunities to engage in research and innovation projects related to digital transformation, AI, and public sector modernization. We aim to influence funding priorities by contributing to consultations and ensuring that opportunities for digital innovation are accessible to companies in Albania and the Western Balkans.
