Mission & Goals

Mission to support the development of principles and practices for protection, enhancement, and management of sustainable environmental quality and ecosystem integrity worldwide, and to propagate and facilitate the translation of environmental science into policy-making. Goals • To promote research, education, communication, and training in the environmental sciences. • To promote application of interdisciplinary environmental sciences in managing environmental stressors. • To participate in scientific interpretation and communication of exposure to and effects of environmental stressors, ecological risk assessment and management, and global environmental solutions. • To provide forums for interactions among professionals on a multisector, interdiciplanary, and multinational basis. • To develop principles and practices for sustainable environments, considering appropriate ecological, economic, and social factors.

EU Legislative Interests

Providing state of the art reports and guidelines for EU institutions regarding the risk assessment of chemicals in the environment. SETAC includes the following disciplines: Analytical chemistry Atmospheric sciences and engineering Biology Classical toxicology Ecology Economics Environmental chemistry Environmental assessment and management Genetics Life cycle assessment Microbiology Organic chemistry Physiology Risk Assessment Soil sciences and engineering Water sciences and engineering
