Mission & Goals
The SCC aims to cultivate studies that aim at social communication, extend their knowledge, and publish the work of academic dedicated to research, for which reason it maintains regular relations with researchers and communication studies from all universities in their linguistic field. Every year, since 2017, the SCC organizes the International Congress of Communication Research. More than three hundred research papers and presentations have been delivered at the various editions of the Congress. The Congress's scientific committee is currently made up of sixteen academics from seven countries in Europe, the United States and Latin America. Moreover, since 1991 the SCC publishes an academic journal, Comunicació: revista de recerca i d’anàlisi, formerly Treballs de Comunicació. To date, fifty-five issues have been published. In the recent past, it also edited the magazine Periodística, jointly with the Journalism studies and the Department of Journalism of the Pompeu Fabra University.

Communication Activities
The SCC has submitted contributions to the surveys “Media Board - Draft Statement of Purpose and Draft Multiannual Strategy 2025-2027 - Consultation” and “Consultation Work Programme 2026” of the European Board for Media Services, and in December 2025 has organized the lecture "The new era in media regulation in the European Union or the fight against the elements" by Carlos Aguilar Paredes, president of the European Board for Media Services.
