Mission & Goals
SME4SPACE is a not for profit organisation based in Leuven. SME4SPACE general mission is to ehance SME participation in the space sector and to contribute to the creation of a SME friendly playing field in Europe. More in detail, SME4SPACE pursues the following not for profit goals: - Defending SMEs and representing their interests towards the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Commission and its related agencies. - Emphasising the potential of the space SMEs in the supply chain and beyond - Supporting Europe’s industrial policy - Fostering cooperation within our extended network of our members, large companies, research and academia - Organising seminars and information sessions. - Participating in European and international collaborative projects.

SME4SPACE issued the following Position Papers: - Contribution of SME4SPACE to the Public Consultation on EU Space Law (September 2025) - Financial Challenges of SMEs in Europe’s Space Industry – Proposal for Prefinancing of NRC (June 2025) - Position Paper on IRIS2 (March 2025) - Position Paper on new EU Strategy for Space R&I (June 2024) - Position Paper on EU Space Law (November 2023) - POSITION OF SME4SPACE ON THE ACTUAL STATUS OF IRIS2 (October 2023) - Position Paper on Ensuring the short & long-term financial sustainability of Copernicus (May 2023, Jointly with Eurospace, Earsc, Nereus) - SME4SPACE Position Paper on EU Recent Developments of the Space Governance (December 2021) SME4SPACE performed the following activities: SME4SPACE provided a feedback to the UE Space Act Commission adoption proposal SME4SPACE participated in the activities for setting up a co-Programmed Public Private Partnership (cPPP) for space together with our stakeholders and the EC. SME4SPACE actively participated in the Non-Dependence Urgent Actions updating and finalisation. SME4SPACE Chairman was invited by a MEP and participated in a meeting at the European Parliament on The Ambition of the European Parliament for the Connectivity satellites on 11 July 2022. SME4SPACE replied to the Targeted stakeholder consultation on European Union legislative initiative on safety, resilience and sustainability of space activities ('EU Space Law') SME4SPACE replied to the Public Consultation on Revision of the EU SME Definition SME4SPACE participated in the Stakeholder Space Platform for the definition of the SRIA SME4SPACE participated in EU Consultation on 2018-2020 Space Work Programme. SME4SPACE participated in EU GOVSATCOM stakeholders consultation.
