Mission & Goals
Small Business Standards (SBS) is a European non-profit association established under Belgian law (aisbl) created in 2013. It was created to represent European SMEs in the standards making process at both the European and international levels. Moreover, SBS aims at raising SME awareness about the benefits of standards and at encouraging their active participation in the standardisation process. SBS members are national and European sectoral and inter-professional associations representing SMEs. The membership is open to all associations matching these criteria.
EU Legislative Interests
Implementation of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 to ensure representation of SMEs in the European Standardisation System, as stipulated in Annex III of the Regulation. Other environmenal sustainability and sector specific legislation relevant for SMEs including relevant standardisation aspects.
Communication Activities
Organisation of webinars and physical events on topics related to SMEs, SME policy, standardisation policy, to raise awareness about the importance of standardisation, dissemination of information (newsletter, brochure, annual report, etc.). Organisation once a year of the "Meeting Standards" campaign in November aimed at increasing the knowledge and awareness of SMEs and SME associations about standards and standardisation developments.

Additional Information
SBSwill also receive a grant from EFTA for 2025 of a maximum amount of EUR 101,612.65. In 2026 SBS is also working on two European projects.
