Mission & Goals

The Slovak Performing and Mechanical Rights Society (SOZA) is an independent collective management organisation with legal personality. In accordance with the Slovak Copyright Act, SOZA collects, manages and distributes royalties to authors and publishers of musical works and grants licences for the use of musical works in the territory of the Slovak Republic. SOZA applies international standards of copyright protection incorporated into Slovak law and represents both Slovak and foreign rights holders. On the basis of authorisations from rights holders and the authorisation issued by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, SOZA administers rights in musical works from Slovakia and abroad. Through reciprocal representation agreements with foreign collective management organisations, SOZA ensures protection of foreign authors and publishers in Slovakia and supports the protection of Slovak authors and publishers abroad. SOZA is a member of CISAC, BIEM and GESAC.

Additional Information

When all staff costs, office expenditure and other expenses related to interest representation activities for the relevant year are taken into account, the total amount remains below EUR 10,000. This is due to several factors. No employee is assigned exclusively to activities covered by the register, and the employees involved in such activities perform them only occasionally, alongside their regular duties. In addition, our organisation is active and engaged almost exclusively within the territory of the Slovak Republic, while any activities carried out outside the Slovak Republic are exceptional in nature.
