Mission & Goals
SK On engages transparently and responsibly with EU public authorities and stakeholders and provides fact-based technical input to support well-informed policymaking and a predictable regulatory framework for batteries and related value chains, including critical raw materials. We monitor and analyse EU legislative and policy developments relevant to batteries, battery supply chains, the energy transition and critical raw materials. We provide technical input such as position papers and data-based explanations, contribute to sustainability and competitiveness-focused policy solutions, and brief internal management on regulatory risks and opportunities. Our primary scope is engagement with EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the EU) and relevant EU bodies, complemented where appropriate by dialogue with Member State authorities and industry stakeholders.
EU Legislative Interests
SK On engages in interest representation activities to support the EU’s green transition and net-zero industrial objectives by providing technical and evidence-based input related to batteries, electric vehicle and energy storage system deployment, and critical raw materials. The company may participate in relevant legislative and policy dialogues, consultations and task forces in its capacity as an industry stakeholder. Communication Activities
1. Engagement with EU Institutions European Commission – Joint Research Centre (JRC) SK On participates in expert-level technical discussions within the framework of the Expert Group for the Development of Implementation Methodologies for the Recycled Content Provisions under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 concerning batteries and waste batteries (Battery Regulation). The company provides technical input related to recycled content calculation methodologies, verification approaches, reporting mechanisms and implementation feasibility for battery manufacturers. Contributions are evidence-based and focused on supporting practical, scientifically sound and proportionate implementation of the Regulation. European Commission – Directorate-General for Trade (DG TRADE) SK On engages in exchanges concerning trade and compliance aspects affecting the battery value chain, including: - Implementation and compliance provisions under Regulation (EU) 2024/1252 establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials (Critical Raw Materials Act); - Assessment of compliance requirements and trade implications related to the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom. Engagement includes technical clarification meetings, provision of supply chain impact analysis and discussion of regulatory consistency and enforceability considerations. 2. EU Surveys and Position Papers SK On prepares and submits written position papers, technical notes and policy recommendations related to: • Regulation (EU) 2024/1252 (Critical Raw Materials Act); • Regulation (EU) 2024/1735 (Net-Zero Industry Act); • Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF); • Other EU initiatives affecting battery manufacturing, industrial decarbonisation and supply chain resilience. 3. Industrial Associations and Stakeholder Dialogue RECHARGE – The Advanced Rechargeable & Lithium Batteries Association As a member of RECHARGE, SK On contributes to coordinated industry discussions and technical working groups related to EU battery legislation, sustainability standards and industrial policy. This may include development of joint position papers and input to consultation responses. ACEA – European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association SK On has engaged in stakeholder dialogue with representatives of ACEA, including meetings between ACEA leadership and SK On senior management. Discussions have focused on regulatory developments affecting electric vehicle deployment, battery supply chains and industrial competitiveness within the European Union. Engagement is conducted in a transparent and policy-focused manner. 4. International Regulatory Engagement UNECE WP.29 – Informal Working Groups on Electric Vehicles and Battery Safety (EVE/EVS) Technical experts from SK On’s quality and regulatory teams have contributed industry input within the framework of UNECE WP.29 informal working groups addressing electric vehicle and battery regulatory requirements. Contributions relate to technical standards, safety requirements and regulatory alignment issues relevant to battery systems placed on the EU market.

SK On Co., Ltd. is a corporate entity and does not have members. SK On is part of the SK Group. This registration covers SK On Co., Ltd. and its wholly owned subsidiaries operating under common control, in accordance with the Single Registration principle. Within the European Union, this includes relevant SK On Hungary (SKOH) and SK Battery Manufacturing (SKBM) entities operating under SK On’s control. Joint ventures jointly controlled with other companies are not included in this registration and are subject to separate registration where applicable.
