Mission & Goals
The Silvermines Hydroelectric Power Station Project (Silvermines Hydro) is transforming a former mining site into a cutting-edge clean energy facility to produce pumped storage hydropower (PSH).The project supports the EU and Ireland by promoting energy diversity and improving security of energy supply. It helps with the transition to renewable energy while providing important benefits at national, regional, and local community levels. Silvermines Hydro is located on the northern slope of the Silvermines Mountain, in north Co. Tipperary, ca. 10km south of Nenagh town, and ca. 0.6km west of Silvermines village. The project aligns with Ireland’s National Development Plan and EirGrid’s ‘Shaping Our Electricity Future’ roadmap, addressing critical needs for renewable integration and grid flexibility.

Communication Activities
We have engaged in communication with EU institutions primarily in the context of our inclusion on the First Union list of PCI's (EU 2024/1041) Projects of Common Interest (PCI). As part of this process, we have presented our hydro pump storage project at relevant EU energy forums and stakeholder events organized to promote cross-border infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, we are beneficiaries of EU funding under a grant agreement managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). Our communication with CINEA has focused on project implementation, including the fulfilment of milestones, reporting obligations, and coordination on deliverables in line with the grant conditions. These outreach activities have been technical and administrative in nature, aimed at ensuring compliance with EU energy infrastructure policy and funding requirements.

Siga-Hydro is a joint venture company owned by SIERA Capital Partners and Foresight Group. Formed in 2023 to accelerate delivery of Silvermines Hydro, the partnership combines the expertise of Irish developer SIERA in complex energy infrastructure with Foresight’s global investment capabilities
