EU Legislative Interests

Digital Services Act (DSA) We advocate for ensuring that marginalized communities, especially in conflict regions like the Western Balkans, have equitable access to digital platforms that can enhance educational opportunities and bridge the digital divide. EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 We actively engage with the EU Gender Equality Strategy to ensure that policies and initiatives address gender-based violence, empower women in conflict zones, and enhance access to education for girls. We are particularly focused on advocating for better gender equality outcomes in the Western Balkans, where historical and cultural challenges persist. European Climate Law (Regulation (EU) 2021/1119) In alignment with our goal of ensuring environmental sustainability, we focus on the European Climate Law, which establishes the EU’s climate-neutrality goal. We target policies within this framework that advocate for environmental justice and adaptation programs, particularly for regions facing the compounded challenges of poverty and environmental degradation. EU External Action on Humanitarian Aid and Development (Council Decision (EU) 2020/1529) We prioritize the EU's humanitarian aid and development policies to ensure that support is directed towards conflict-affected regions, including the Western Balkans. We aim to influence the allocation of EU funds for poverty alleviation, access to education, and improving maternal and child health in these areas. EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy 2020-2024 (COM(2020) 182) This policy aligns with our mission to advocate for human rights and social justice. We focus on influencing EU strategies that promote the protection of marginalized communities and ensure that their voices are heard in international forums, particularly regarding access to education and the eradication of extreme poverty. European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan (COM(2021) 102) We engage with this policy to promote initiatives that guarantee equal access to education and healthcare. Specifically, we focus on how the EU can help eradicate poverty and hunger through social protection programs that align with our commitment to sustainable development and equitable opportunities. United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - EU Action (COM(2022) 98) We advocate for the EU’s alignment with the UN SDGs, particularly those relating to quality education, gender equality, and poverty reduction. Our focus is on influencing EU policies to ensure that global development objectives are locally implemented, with special attention to the needs of marginalized communities. EU Global Health Strategy (COM(2020) 724) Addressing maternal and child health is a critical part of our mission. We target the EU Global Health Strategy to advocate for stronger health policies, especially for women and children in developing regions. We push for enhanced access to maternal healthcare services as a key aspect of the EU's global health outreach. Education for Sustainable Development (Council Conclusions 2022) As a key part of our advocacy, we focus on the EU’s Education for Sustainable Development initiative, urging the integration of sustainable development principles into educational curricula. This is critical for empowering young people, particularly in post-conflict areas, to contribute to their communities and global development goals. European Neighbourhood Policy (COM(2021) 640) We focus on the EU's engagement with neighboring countries, particularly in the Western Balkans. We advocate for policies that improve access to quality education and social services, aligning with our mission to promote justice, peace, and stability in the region. EU Civil Protection Mechanism (Decision No 1313/2013/EU) Our organization actively engages with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to ensure that vulnerable communities, particularly in conflict and disaster-affected areas, receive timely and effective assistance.

Communication Activities

Campaigns: We will raise awareness of gender inequality, focusing on the role of education for women and girls in the Western Balkans. Events: We will host a virtual roundtable on improving women’s education access in conflict zones. European Climate Law Campaigns: We will push for stronger environmental protections for post-conflict regions. Events: We will hold a panel on climate change impacts in vulnerable populations. EU External Action on Humanitarian Aid and Development Campaigns: We will continue fundraising for humanitarian projects in the Western Balkans, such as supporting children in need in poor villages in Bosnia. Events: We will host fundraising events and awareness campaigns for these initiatives. EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy Campaigns: We will advocate for human rights education, especially for marginalized communities in the Western Balkans. Events: We will organize workshops on the intersection of education and human rights. European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan Campaigns: We will promote social rights, focusing on education for vulnerable groups. Events: We will organize forums on social rights and educational access. United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Campaigns: We will run a campaign aligning EU policies with the UN SDGs, emphasizing education and poverty reduction. Events: We will participate in EU conferences discussing education’s role in achieving SDGs. EU Global Health Strategy Campaigns: We will raise awareness about maternal and child health, advocating for EU funding. Events: We will host an event on improving maternal health in conflict-affected regions.
