Mission & Goals

SEA\LNG is a global, multi-sector industry coalition, created to improve the understanding of the environmental and commercial benefits of a marine fuel and the pathway it offers for decarbonisation through the use of its low and zero carbon alternatives, liquefied biomethane and liquefied e-methane.

EU Legislative Interests

Our interest is in the activities of the Committees on Transport and Tourism, Environment, Industry, Research and Energy. Our focus is on the following Fit for 55 policy files: FuelEU Maritime, AFIR, revisions to EU ETS and ETD and amendments to RED II (REDIII). We also follow: STIP, MIS, Port Strategy, Net Zero Industry Act, CISAF, Innovation Fund, Hydrogen 2025 Auction and the UDB

Communication Activities

We have provided feedback on the following Fit for 55 policy files: FuelEU Maritime, AFIR, revisions to EU ETS and ETD and amendments to RED II (REDIII), STIP, In 2021/22 SEA-LNG met with: - Vera Tax - MEP March 18 2021 - Filip Bertillson, office of Jorgen Warborn MEP, November 30 2022 - Office of Elsi Katainen MEP - January 13 2022 In 2024 SEA\LNG met with: - DG MOVE, DG ENER and DG CLIMA to discuss mass balancing of biomethane in non-EU gas grids and implementation of UDB – May 31 2024 - DG MOVE to discuss mass balancing of biomethane in non-EU gas grids and implementation of UDB – September 26, 2024 SEA-LNG helped set up / participated in the following events: - AFIR briefing workshop, Brussels - 27 April 2022 - organised by GIE, Eurogas, SEA-LNG, EBA and NGVA Europe briefed MEP Jan-Christoph Oetjen, TRAN Vice-Chair, RE, MEP Ismail Ertug, AFIR Rapporteur, S&D, MEP Radan Kanev, ENVI Shadow on AFIR, EPP and MEP Tsvetelina Penkova, ITRE Shadow on AFIR, S&D. - THE TRANSITION TO THE NEW EUROPEAN MARITIME FUELS STRATEGY event - 30 June 2022 - organised by MEP, Inmaculada Rodríguez and MEP Isabel Garcia Munoz and attended by Timothy Noel, Policy Officer DG Clima and Annika Kroon, Chief of Unit of DG MOVE Maritime Transport & Logistics - MEP Fit for 55 Maritime Briefing - 12th Oct 2022, organised by GIE, Eurogas, SEA-LNG and EBA and hosted by MEPs Caroline Nagtegaal and Elsi Katainen. Member Of

LNG Protocol, BioLNG in Transport Coalition and ECSA Clean Maritime Fuels Platform and work closely with GIE, EBA, Eurogas and the Methanol Institute on an ad hoc basis to organise briefings for the Commission, MEPs and Council members.
