Mission & Goals
SDG Watch Europe is an EU-level, cross-sectoral alliance of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), including Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) with a focus on development, the environment, human rights, social rights and other sectors. The ambition and goal is to hold governments to account for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, specifically in regards to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our goal and challenge as European Civil Society is to make the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a reality. Making sure we reach all Sustainable Development Goals and targets, within Europe and globally. The SDGs can only be fully achieved with active and broad-based civil society engagement. CSOs will need to advocate for the policies required, raise awareness of goals and targets amongst the general public, monitor progress in implementing the SDGs and push for action where needed (watchdog role).

Additional Information
SDG Watch Europe is not a registered legal entity but a coalition of NGOs. Its Secretariat is hosted by the EEB (an organisation also on the Transparency Register). It does not have a separate budget or financial management but its staff and activities are covered by the EEB's funding sources. Through the EEB, SDG Watch Europe used to benefit indirectly from one Horizon 2020 project that covered its Secretariat and some core activities relevant for this registration. Before that, it benfitted from a DEAR project (INTPA). Members, in particular the Steering Group members, contribute their time on a voluntary basis to SDG Watch Europe activities. The EEB offers staff time of 2 staff members, 10% FTE each, to SDG Watch Europe.
