Mission & Goals
Scientific Beta was originally created by EDHEC, a French academic institution recognized for its research in Finance, with the aim of promoting the highest level of transparency in the field of Index Management, especially in so-called “smart beta” Indices, which are an alternative to market cap Indices. In January 2020, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) acquired a 93% majority stake in Scientific Beta. Scientific Beta’s mission is to promote the adoption of the latest advances in factor investing and ESG, and their implementation by the investment industry. The academic origins of Scientific Beta provide the foundation of its strategy: to offer, in the best economic conditions, solutions that are most proven scientifically with full transparency of both the methods and the associated risks.
