Mission & Goals
Save the Children is Denmark's largest child rights organization. We are member of the world's largest independent child rights movement, Save the Children. We work in Denmark and in more than 116 other countries, where we fight for children's rights. Save the Children was founded in 1919, and in 1945, Save the Children was established in Denmark, and we have around 65,000 supporters. We work on the principles set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and strive to ensure that children have a say in the world they are part of. Save the Children fights for a world that respects children's rights, and we work to create sustainable improvements in the lives of children and youth. We combat violence, abuse, and bullying, and we build safe communities for children and families in vulnerable positions. We fight poverty, ensure access to education, and strengthen the resilience of fragile states.
EU Legislative Interests
Our main focus within EU legislation is areas related to children's rights, such as the protection of children's digital rights, including the Digital Services Act, AI Act, Digital Fairness Act, and the work on a Child Sexual Abuse Regulation. Other high-priority areas that we focus on include EU policies to combat child poverty as well as EU development and humanitarian policy.
Communication Activities
Save the Children Denmark has been in contact with DG Connect about our representative study of children's experiences online. We have also had a visit from deputy director general (DG Connect) Renate Nikolay to discuss Article 28 of the Digital Services Act and the related guidelines. We additionally work actively in the field of EU development and humanitarian policy, including the next Multi-annual Financial Framework and ECHO and INTPA programmes.
