Mission & Goals
Sant'Egidio BXL Europe was established to coordinate the Sant’Egidio Community’s social and humanitarian works. Its main purpose is to promote justice, peace, development, international cooperation and the protection of human rights. These goals are achieved by ensuring dignity and equality, upholding individual rights, developing all forms of social solidarity between individuals, combating all forms of poverty, promoting cultural, education, social and healthcare initiatives. EU Legislative Interests
One of the core ways Sant’Egidio BXl Europe engages is by coordinating and representing the global movement, in all its diversity, on the international stage, including the Council of Europe, the United Nations, and the European Union. In the EU context, we closely monitor issues related to migration, interreligious dialogue, and peacebuilding in the Global South. We contribute to consultations, take part in events and hold bilateral meetings with EU officials. We work in collaboration with other civil society organisations through various networks, with a particular focus on the following EU policy areas: - EU policies and budgetary instruments aimed at conflict prevention and peacebuilding - EU external policies towards Africa, Latin America, and Asia, in support of our regional programmes and partnerships - EU policies concerning the Middle East and the Mediterranean, with particular attention to peace processes in the region - EU human rights policies, including the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy - EU policies relating to faith-based organisations and the promotion of Freedom of Religion or Belief - EU asylum and migration policies, including the Pact on Migration and Asylum - EU policies on combating trafficking in human beings - EU frameworks and policies on resettlement and humanitarian admission - EU policies on community sponsorship and complementary pathways for protection - EU policies on international protection, including the protection of vulnerable migrants and unaccompanied minors

Additional Information
Sant'Egidio BXL Europe is a non-profit organisation, which receives its operating funds mainly from private foundations, companies and individuals. It is also partly financed by government institutions, such as DGD, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union. The government funding is not structural, but is always part of a particular project of our organisation.
