Mission & Goals
Russie-Libertés is a French human rights NGO founded in 2012. Our mission is to defend civil liberties and human rights in Russia, support Russian civil society, and raise awareness in Europe about repression, war, and authoritarianism in Russia. We promote non-violent resistance to the war in Ukraine and advocate for justice for war crimes committed by the Russian regime. We support independent journalists, artists, and activists who oppose state propaganda and censorship. We act through public events, advocacy, exhibitions, publications, and partnerships with European and international institutions and NGOs. Russie-Libertés is independent, non-partisan, and committed to peaceful, democratic change in Russia.

Communication Activities
1. Annual Forum (2022, 2023, 2024) – Russie-Libertés organizes a large annual forum in Paris, bringing together Russian and European civil society actors, political dissidents, experts, and policymakers to discuss democracy, sanctions, media freedom, and the EU's role in supporting democratic change in Russia. These events included high-level panels and direct participation from Members of the European Parliament and EU-affiliated experts. 2. Advocacy Campaigns – Russie-Libertés has coordinated several international campaigns aligned with EU human rights priorities, such as the #FreeNavalny and #FreeThemAll campaigns, calling for the release of Russian political prisoners. These campaigns included protests in EU cities, joint letters to EU institutions, social media outreach, and public advocacy to mobilize support among European citizens and decision-makers. 3. Project Svoboda – Russie-Libertés is a member of the Ethics Committee of Svoboda, a satellite media platform launched by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Denis Diderot Committee, with the support of the European Parliament. Officially presented at the European Parliament in Brussels in 2024, with participation from MEP Andrus Ansip and EU Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová, Svoboda broadcasts independent radio and TV content to over 4.5 million Russian households. The project counters Kremlin disinformation by providing verified, pluralistic information in Russian. Russie-Libertés' president Olga Prokopieva spoke at the launch, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to resisting propaganda and defending freedom of information. 4. Within the framework of a European civil society consortium supported by the European Commission, Russie-Libertés plays an active role in promoting anti-war and pro-democracy voices from Russia. The consortium unites key actors of the Russian democratic diaspora and European partners to coordinate advocacy, build capacity, and strengthen communication strategies targeting both policymakers and the public. Russie-Libertés contributes by organizing events, engaging with EU institutions, and supporting campaigns that amplify the visibility of the Russian anti-war movement in European media. This collaborative approach fosters sustainable networks and reinforces international solidarity in the face of authoritarian aggression.
