Mission & Goals
ROMOTANA is a dynamic not-for-profit trade association committed to promoting and supporting the advancement of the Romanian and Moldovan American in the trucking industry of North America. Founded by Romanian-American and Moldovan-American transportation professionals with a combined experience of over 35 years in all aspects of management and logistics, ROMOTANA’s aim is to benefit the trucking entrepreneurship and the betterment of service for the North-American supply-chain. United not only by our common heritage and language but also by our common interests, ROMOTANA members pledge to strive for a robust pro-active engagement advocating and conducive for professionalism, safety, top performance, and fairness in every aspect of the transportation industry.
EU Legislative Interests
ROMOTANA, as an association representing transport and logistics companies with Romanian and Moldovan origin, aligns its interests with key EU policies in the field of transport, mobility, and economic integration. The main EU legislative proposals and policies targeted include: - EU Mobility Package (road transport regulations, working conditions, cabotage rules) - Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) policy, supporting infrastructure connectivity between EU and neighboring countries - EU Green Deal and Fit for 55 packages, particularly measures impacting the decarbonization of the transport and logistics sector - EU–Moldova Association Agreement and policies supporting economic integration, trade facilitation, and regulatory alignment - Customs and trade facilitation policies, including digitalization of transport and cross-border logistics - Road safety and transport standards at EU level These policies are relevant for improving cross-border transport efficiency, regulatory harmonization, and market access for transport operators connected to the EU.
Communication Activities
ROMOTANA engages in communication and networking activities aimed at promoting cooperation between transport operators and aligning with EU-related developments: - Annual ROMOTANA Gala and networking events, bringing together transport companies, policymakers, and stakeholders from the EU, Moldova, Romania, and the United States - Participation in business and investment forums, including meetings with government officials and international stakeholders to discuss economic cooperation and EU-related opportunities - Workshops and industry discussions focused on regulatory changes in transport, logistics, and international trade - Public communication and community-building initiatives within the diaspora transport sector to promote best practices and alignment with EU standards - Collaboration with associations and institutions in Moldova, Romania, and internationally to support integration into EU transport and logistics frameworks These activities contribute to raising awareness, facilitating dialogue, and supporting the adaptation of transport companies to EU legislation and standards.
