Rockwood Public Affairs offers a full range of services to support the public affairs and communication requirements of our clients. Through our knowledge, experience and accurate insights, we develop the right strategies for our clients to pursue, which are, at all times, results driven. Our experience ensures we are able to identify the issues and developments that matter to our clients across a range of sectors. We continually inform them of the events and decisions that affect their businesses and advise them accordingly.
EU Legislative Interests
Monitoring EU legislative proposals of policies including: Proposed digital policy legislation e.g., AI Act Implementation of the Digital Services Act, Property, Proposed legislation under the Green Deal relating to energy and transport Proposed revision to legislation on pharmaceuticals Proposals legislation on custom reform Ongoing trade negotiations and market access issues
Communication Activities
Rockwood carry out the following activities: Providing briefings to clients on development regarding EU legislative and policy proposals, Organizing briefing events for clients and stakeholder Providing submissions and briefings to members of the European Parliament Rockwood has monitored recent or current EU legislative proposals, including those listed below (full legal titles included): • Digital Services Act i.e., Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 October 2022 a Single Market for Digital Services and amending Directive 2000/31/EC. • Digital Markets Act i.e., Regulation (EU) 2022/1925 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 2022 on contestable and fair markets in the digital sector and amending Directives (EU) 2019/1937 and (EU) 2020/1828. • Proposed AI Act i.e. Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL LAYING DOWN HARMONISED RULES ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ACT) AND AMENDING CERTAIN UNION LEGISLATIVE ACTS. • EU Medical Devices Regulation 2023 i.e. REGULATION (EU) 2023/607 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 15 March 2023 amending Regulations (EU) 2017/745 and (EU) 2017/746 as regards the transitional provisions for certain medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices. • Proposed rules on driving and rest times i.e., Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 as regards minimum requirements on minimum breaks and daily and weekly rest periods in the occasional passenger transport sector • Proposed Customs Reform Package: o Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing the Union Customs Code and the European Union Customs Authority, and repealing Regulation (EU) No 952/2013. o Proposal for a Council Regulation amending Regulation (EEC) No 2658/87 as regards the introduction of a simplified tariff treatment for the distance sales of goods and Regulation (EC) No 1186/2009 as regards the elimination of the customs duty relief threshold. o Proposal for a Council Directive amending Directive 2006/112/EC as regards VAT rules relating to taxable persons who facilitate distance sales of imported goods and the application of the special scheme for distance sales of goods imported from third territories or third countries and special arrangements for declaration and payment of import VAT. • EU Sanctions against Russia i.e., 11 packages since February 2022, as provided for under Council Regulation 269/2014 of 17 March 2014, and Regulation 833/2014 of 31 July 2014.
