Mission & Goals

Resource Justice Network’s global, five-year strategy, Vision 2030: Shared Prosperity on a Thriving Planet, sets out our collective path for 2025–2030. Building on more than two decades of advocacy as Publish What You Pay, this new chapter reflects our evolution into a global movement of over 1000 member organisations across more than 50 countries, rooted in frontline communities. Our strategy reaffirms our mission to empower communities in their pursuit of equitable governance of natural resources and justice for all in the energy transition. It commits us to uniting globally to drive an ambitious advocacy agenda at local, national, regional and international levels, with a core focus on centering the rights, voices and leadership of those most impacted by extraction and energy projects. To help us achieve this mission, Vision 2030 is defined by three collective outcomes: justice for all in the fossil fuel phase-out to renewable energy; equitable mineral governance within the natural

EU Legislative Interests

Review of the EU legislation mandating disclosure of payments to governments by extractive companies: The EU (and associated EEA countries) is together with Canada the global leader on extractive revenue transparency. Preserving and strengthening the hard-won EU legislation mandating the annual disclosure by all extractive companies of their payments to government on a project-by-project basis can be considered a strategic objective of global significance. The legislation has already dramatically increased the transparency of revenue flows in the extractive sector. Its effectiveness could be significantly improved by amending it to make company reports more accessible, by clarifying reporting obligations in key areas such as joint ventures and by making additional data accessible such as payments linked to the trading of oil, gas and minerals. EU initiatives to promote sustainable investments, sustainable corporate governance and sustainable supply chains: Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. The EU Critical Raw Materials Act. The EU Global Gateway as well as associated member state international public finance. EU CRM-related FTAs, BITs and MoUs as well as associated member state CRM-related agreements.
