Mission & Goals
UNICA is the network of universities from the capitals of Europe, currently bringing together over 50 institutions that sit at the crossroads of academia, policy, and society. In capital cities - where decisions are made, ideas circulate, and global challenges are felt first - universities play a pivotal role in shaping Europe’s future. UNICA provides these institutions with a trusted platform to connect, collaborate, and act collectively in the pursuit of a stronger European Higher Education and Research Area. UNICA enables cooperation by facilitating the exchange of strategies, by amplifying the voice of universities in European policy discussions, and by building bridges between academia, cities, and society. For the European higher education sector, UNICA serves as an essential interface between institutions and policy. It contributes to shaping debates on issues such as academic freedom, mobility, sustainability, and inclusion, and it acts as a voice for universities.

Communication Activities
UNICA's communication activities focus on (a) raising awareness, (b) engaging our community in relevant consultations and (c) actively engaging in policy processes through our EU projects and by publishing papers created in partnership with our members and other relevant stakeholders. Based on the expected outcome and focus of an activity, UNICA develops certain activities that are exclusive for members and others who are open to larger audiences.
