Mission & Goals
Renaissance Fusion is a research and development company pioneering the design, construction, and commercialization of a stellarator-based nuclear fusion reactor, based on high-temperature superconductors (HTS) and liquid metal technologies. Our motto is: “We are building a superstar on Earth", because our goal is to to replicate and even surpass, per unit volume, the reaction that happens in the sun to provide clean and abundant energy to humans. Founded in July 2020 by Italian physicist Francesco Volpe and business professor Martin Kupp, Renaissance Fusion is headquartered in Fontaine, near Grenoble (France) and employs some 100 people from 24 different countries. In October 2025, we launched our first subsidiary, Renaissance Fusion Italia, based in Pisa (Italy).
