Mission & Goals
Refugees International focuses on the important refugee, displacement, humanitarian, and human rights issues that need urgent attention and action. Our advocates travel to some of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises to investigate first-hand the challenges displaced people face, create policy solutions, and demand action. We advocate for lifesaving assistance, human rights, and protection for displaced people and promote solutions to displacement crises. Our powerful advocacy helps focus planning in the international response to ensure that resources go to those who need it most. We do not accept any government or UN funding, ensuring the independence and credibility of our work.

Communication Activities
Refugees International’s research findings and recommendations are shared in public field reports, policy/issue briefs, and blogs published on the RI website. Advocates also author op-eds, issue press statements, and engage with journalists (e.g., media appearances, interviews) for external outlets. Refugees International also engages with other non-governmental and civil society groups to develop and support joint advocacy initiatives, including campaigns, statements and open letters to policymakers and public campaigns. RI’s Communications team leads on social media engagement and organizes events to highlight the organization’s work. Advocates may also participate in events hosted by other organizations.
