Mission & Goals

Recycling Europe’s main objectives are to promote and represent, at EU level and in Brussels, the interests of the European recovery and recycling industries, including recyclers. To this end, Recycling Europe: - Provides its members with information, analysis, and advice on EU regulatory and policy developments relevant to recycling activities - Represents and advocates the industry’s positions at EU level on relevant policy and regulatory initiatives - Builds and maintains constructive relations with the European institutions and with relevant stakeholders on policy and regulatory matters affecting the recycling sector - Communicates the contribution of recycling to sustainable development, including its role in creating economic opportunities and enhancing environmental protection Recycling Europe brings together national associations, companies and other stakeholders active in the recovery and recycling sector and is represented in 24 EU and EFTA countries.

EU Legislative Interests

The EU initiatives listed below reflect EU policies and regulatory actions of particular interest to Recycling Europe, in line with its objectives and activities. In particular, the Confederation monitors, engages with, and contributes expertise to policy discussions related to: - Circular economy policies and related legislative initiatives - Resource efficiency and the sustainable use of materials - The Raw Materials Initiative and the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials - EU waste legislation, including end-of-waste criteria and their implementation - EU industrial policy affecting recycling and manufacturing value chains - EU trade policy with relevance for recycled materials - EU chemicals legislation impacting recycled materials and recycling processes - Policies related to critical raw materials and their secure and sustainable supply - Economic and market-based incentives relevant to recycling and circular economy objectives

Communication Activities

Recycling Europe organises the European Recycling Conference on an annual basis, which brings together policymakers, industry representatives, recyclers, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss key policy, regulatory, and market developments affecting recycling and the circular economy in Europe. In addition, Recycling Europe organises smaller thematic events throughout the year, such as Recyclers Talks, which provide a platform for targeted exchanges on specific materials, value chains, or policy initiatives. These events aim to facilitate dialogue, share expertise, and contribute to informed policymaking. Additional Information

The EU funded projects in which Recycling Europe take part are all HORIZON 2020. There are not directly linked to the advocacy per se but contribute to make progress in the recycling of hard to recycle streams such as multilayer films or building communities to support the transition towards a more circular economy. The costs are either costs declared on a yearly basis or estimate of costs for this year.
