Mission & Goals

RAND Europe (EU) is an international non-profit association which in conjunction with its members, RAND Europe CIC and the RAND Corporation, undertakes research in Europe. Our mission is to help improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis. RAND Europe (EU) is able to draw on the depth of expertise of its members across a broad range of EU policy-relevant topics from defence and security, innovation and technology policy, and criminal justice through to health and social issues. Cutting across topical areas are the methods-focused groups, including evaluation and impact measurement, and choice modelling and valuation. The mix of subject expertise, contextual understanding and innovative methodologies creates insightful yet robust analysis. We share the values of our member organisations. We are objective. We realise our mission by conducting objective, relevant research and analysis to create solutions that are both effective and enduring.

EU Legislative Interests

RAND Europe, as a research organisation, follows a broad range of EU initiatives with an eye to identifying opportunities to provide evidence-based research to inform the policy agenda. The EU policy areas of most interest include: defence and security; home affairs and migration; research and innovation; digital agenda; education and training; employment and social affairs; public health; justice and consumer protection; foreign policy; transport; and international development. In addition to various service contracts through call for tender, we have a range of framework contracts in place with Directorates General of the European Commission, EU agencies and the European Parliament to provide research studies on topics relevant to the EU.

Communication Activities

RAND Europe (EU) AISBL and its members have undertaken a broad range of research studies over the past years. This has included contributions on research studies for DG CONNECT, DG DEFIS, DG EMPL, DG HOME, DG RTD, DG SANTE and DG TRADE. We have also undertaken a range of studies for the European Parliament and for EU agencies such as ECDC, EDA, EIGE, EMCDDA, EUAA and FRA. We host an annual reception in Brussels to bring together our collaborators, clients and other senior policymakers in our network to celebrate our year’s activities, to network, and to stimulate debate around topics of research interest.
