Mission & Goals
Fusion is the ultimate clean energy source, and Proxima Fusion aims to revolutionize the energy landscape with its QI stellarator approach. As the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP), which built the advanced W7-X stellarator, Proxima builds on a $1.5B German and European government investment. Proxima Fusion was founded by physicists and engineers from Max Planck Society, MIT, and Google-X. Leveraging high-temperature superconducting magnets, advanced manufacturing, and computing, Proxima’s simulation-first approach and IPP partnership have accelerated its power plant design. As Europe prioritizes energy security and resilience, Proxima is poised to lead in the fusion energy race.
