Mission & Goals

Proton AG is a software company founded in 2014 by former CERN and MIT scientists who had the vision to build an internet that respects people's right to privacy. Proton is working towards its vision by developing free and secure productivity tools, like email, calendar, drive, password manager, VPN and other services, that empower people to control their data online. Proton secures its users' data with end-to-end encryption which ensures that no one, not even Proton can access it, and has no advertising on its products. As part of its mission to make privacy accessible to everyone, Proton uses a freemium business plan, which means paid subscriptions subsidise free accounts.
