Mission & Goals

ProSunergy conducts strategic analysis in sugar and renewable fuels, world-wide. Main topics are farming practices, industrial processes, market and investment analysis, business development, trade and agricultural policy. Clients, both inside and outside of the EU, include farmer organisations, corporations and cooperatives, sugar industry organisations, governments and multilateral intergovernmental organisations. With respect to the EU (and the UK, post-Brexit) ProSunergy follows sugar and ethanol markets and trade developments.

EU Legislative Interests

Areas of interaction with EU institutions are: the Common Agricultural Policy with particular focus on sugar and ethanol; trade policy, with particular emphasis on preferential trade agreements such as Economic Partnership Agreements and the Everything But Arms Initiative; aid and support for developing countries; energy policy; food-related health issues.

Communication Activities

ProSunergy represents the Dominican Republic sugar producers on the ACP/LDC Sugar Industry Group, which is also listed on the Transparency Register (number 052002725608-03). This Group provides expert advice on sugar issues to ACP Ambassadors and to the OACPS in Brussels, and to ACP High Commissioners and Ambassadors in the UK. Thus, the Trade & Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the UK is of particular relevance.
