Mission & Goals
As a professional organisation for yacht crew, the PYA's mission is to represent the interests of Professional Yacht Captains and Crew and to encourage and maintain the highest professional standards. The PYA provides its members with the information necessary to progress in their chosen career. Using the U.K. Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA)-approved Service Record Book (SRB), the PYA verifies sea time on yachts, essential for anyone wishing to progress their yachting career. The Service Record Book is the preferred method by the MCA of recording and verifying sea time. The PYA has also been appointed by the MCA to verify sea service for non-members on a pay as you go basis.
EU Legislative Interests
We are currently only monitoring for potential policy discussions related to environment and transport where yachts are, or may be discussed. I particular, we will be monitoring the extension of maritime transport emissions in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
