Mission & Goals
Preferred by Nature is a non-profit organisation that supports better land management and business practices that benefit people, nature and the climate. We do this through the provision of a unique combination of sustainability services, projects supporting awareness raising and capacity building. For 30 years, we have worked to develop practical solutions to drive positive impacts in production landscapes and supply chains in over 100 countries. We focus on land use, primarily through forest, agriculture and climate impact commodities, and related sectors such as travel and conservation. Our mission focuses on driving sustainability through market transformation by: i) setting higher sustainability standards; ii) reinforcing market signals for sustainable product demand, and: iii) empowering market actors to meet that demand. Further information can be found on our website, and via our organisational Strategy and Theory of Change.

Communication Activities
Over 2024/25, Preferred by Nature has been most active in raising awareness in relation to the EU Deforestation Regulation. Since the publication of the proposal in November 2021, Preferred by Nature has closely followed its development. Leveraging our expertise in relation to the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), due diligence systems and sustainable sourcing, we've engaged in multiple communications activities to raise awareness about the upcoming Regulation. See: www.preferredbynature.org/newsroom. We have hosted multiple EUDR-focused events, to help affected parties navigate the requirements. In fact, globally over 2024/25, we have organised or participated in well over 50 webinars, workshops and other training events, fostering connections with local stakeholders and sharing valuable insights on the regulation. Through the development of tools and guides, we seek to simplify the Regulation's intricate details. Our social media initiatives (https://www.linkedin.com/company/preferred-by-nature/, www.instagram.com/preferredbynature/?hl=en and www.youtube.com/c/preferredbynature) cover insights to better navigate the Regulation’s requirements, further contributing to building awareness on the Regulation. For easy access to information, we developed a dedicated EU Deforestation Regulation webpage (www.preferredbynature.org/EUDR). This supports affected parties to better align their practices with the new Regulation. Of course, Preferred by Nature is active in relation to other legislative proposals, seeking to duplicate its efforts in these other arenas also. These cover broad areas such as corporate HREDD, biodiversity, climate change, green claims and corporate reporting, amongst others.
