Mission & Goals
On the basis of the ethical concepts of 'climate justice' and 'resource justice' PowerShift contributes to a more sustainable, socially and ecologically fair economic system (including a more sustainable energy system) in Germany, Europe and internationally. PowerShift focuses on awareness-raising, research, educational work, campaigning and advocacy around issues such as 'trade and environment', 'climate change and trade', 'investment policy for sustainable development', 'renewable energy', 'raw materials/natural resources', and 'sustainable energy for all'. In networks and campaigns we work together with like-minded NGOs, trade unions, academics as well as the interested public from Germany, Europe and other countries.
EU Legislative Interests
PowerShift does awareness raising and advocacy work on -> EU Trade Policy (in particular the negotiations for the EU-Mercosur Agreement, the EU-Mexico Free Trade Agreement, the EU-Indonesia CEPA and trade negotiations with the United States) -> EU International Investment Policy (in particular the EU approach to investment protection and the Energy Charter Treaty) -> EU Raw Materials Policy (in particular the Critical Raw Materials Act) We also follow EU Energy policy, but do not engage actively in advocacy strategies. We are Oberserver of the EU Critical Raw Materials Board, Subgroup Public Knowledge.
