Mission & Goals
The Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform (PCEP) is a forum for all organisations and stakeholders in the polyolefin value chain to exchange ideas, showcase projects and work together to maximise innovation and value, so advancing the circular economy. PCEP is committed to transforming the polyolefin system from a linear to a circular economy based on three principles: designing out waste; keeping products and materials in use; and recycling into high-quality new raw materials. PCEP's scope is global but primary fields of interests are European.
EU Legislative Interests
PCEP has made several ambitious voluntary commitments aligned to the European Plastics Strategy including to: reuse or recycle 60% of collected polyolefin packaging by 2030. Ensure more than 75% of polyolefin packaging is designed for recycling by 2030 and improve the collection and sorting system. Polyolefins are highly versatile and valuable materials used across a wide variety of sectors. As a result PCEP follows all EU initiatives, policies and legislation relevant to our mission to transform the polyolefin system to a circular economy. For example, European Plastics Strategy, Circular Plastics Alliance, EU Green Deal, Circular Economy Action Plan, Green Claims, End of life vehicles Directive, Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation, Waste Shipment, Regulation on Food Contact Materials.
Communication Activities
PCEP contributes to EU policy work as relevant to achieving our mission and in particular the major applications for polyolefins. For example taking part in stakeholder consultations on issues related to legislation governing packaging, waste, food contact materials, the implementation of the Circular Economy package etc. PCEP intends to organize an annual conference, bringing together the value chain (our members) and external actors (e.g. representatives of EU institutions, civil society, media) to discuss issues of relevance to our mission. The PCEP website contains a news page which is updated regularly to share information about our activities in a transparent manner.
