EU Legislative Interests

PIU is interested in the current work of the European Commission important for colective interest of its members and devoted to development of Saving and Investment Union, Union for Data Exchange, Open Finance, Retail Investment Package and Solvency II regime. PIU analyzes the work of the European Commission on financial markets (IDD, MIFiDII, PRIIPs, CCD) product liability (PLD, ELD, AILD), motor vehicle owners insurance (MID), ESG regulations (SFDR, CCCD, EU Taxonomy Regulation, CSRD), digitalization and cybersecurity (GDPR, DORA, AI ACT, DATA ACT, DATA GOVERNANCE ACT, FIDA).

Communication Activities

PIU promotes good market practices and supports insurer’s initiatives (e.g. preventive initiatives). It increases public awareness about insurance. It disseminates knowledge about insurance in its reports and numerous publications. PIU is the editor of “Insurance News”, scientific journal.

Member Of

GFIA - Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA). The GFIA represents the industry internationally and provides opinions and advice to the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). The PIU participates in the work of the GFIA working groups. Insurance Europe - association of insurance associations and unions from European countries. It participates in EU legislative work and safeguards the strategic interests of European insurance companies. It represents the European insurance environment in organisations such as the OECD, WTO or IAIS. The President of PIU is a member of the Executive Committee of Insurance Europe. PIU experts work in the organisation’s committees and groups.
