Mission & Goals

Phiren Amenca is a network of Roma and non-Roma volunteers and voluntary service organizations creating opportunities for non-formal education, dialogue, and engagement, to challenge stereotypes and racism. We believe that volunteering is a powerful tool of social change, as volunteers dedicate their time and energy to contribute to society. Based on national and international voluntary service programs, the Phiren Amenca network creates opportunities for young Roma and non-Roma to live and engage in local communities and projects for up to one year. Placement themes may include youth and sports activities, social inclusion, arts and culture, environment and human rights. In exchange for their engagement, the volunteers can benefit from unforgettable life experience, intercultural learning, non-formal education, and new language skills. EU Legislative Interests

Phiren Amenca is following the programs and policies related to youth and non-discrimination such as: 1) Erasmus Plus 2) Citizens, Equality Rights and Values Programme - CERV 3) EU Roma Framework for Equality, Inclusion and Participation 2030 We follow events organised by the Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup - ARDI at the EP, the European Youth Forum, the Anti-Racism Coordination Group and the Roma Team at the EC, as well as by Roma MEPs Peter Pollak and Romeo Franz. We are official partners in organising the annual EU Roma Week at the European Parliament.

Communication Activities

Phiren Amenca has a number of publications related to better volunteer service programs, non-discrimination and particularly non-discrimination towards Roma people (antigypsyism). We are organising or co-organising youth events with hundreds of participants such as: 1) Roma Genocide Commemoration Event "Dikh i na Bistar" - yearly in Krakow, Poland 2) "So Keres Europa?!/What's up Europe" - every two years in the European Youth capital for the particular year 3) European Youth Event - EYE - every two years as partners of the European Youth Forum in Strasbourg 4) EU Roma Week at the European Parliament - annualy in Brussels All about activities and publication you can find at our website: phirenamenca.eu
