EU Legislative Interests

Payment services and in particular the Commission groups supporting the implementation of The Payment Service Directive. I have had, and will continue to have, occasional meetings with EC officials on the topic of payments sovereignty. The purpose of my registration in the Transparency Register is to ensure full transparency regarding these contacts, notably with DG FISMA, in the context of preparing my application to the Payment Systems Market Expert Group (PSMEG), following an invitation to apply from the competent Commission unit. I understand that such an application requires prior inclusion in the Transparency Register. Although I conduct paid (commercial) activities in the telecommunications sector, the activities covered by this application are entirely unrelated to telecommunications and are non-commercial in nature. They concern payment systems within the financial sector, where I currently have no clients. My interactions with EU institutions are therefore limited to my unpaid contributions in the field of payment services, motivated by the objective of supporting and promoting EU sovereignty in payments, drawing both on my professional expertise and a strong commitment to the European public interest.

I have no affiliation with any commercial interests in relation to the activity for which I am applying. My current commercial activities are exclusively in the telecommunications sector and are therefore unrelated to the financial sector and to the application described herein. Following an invitation from DG FISMA, I am applying in personal capacity to the Commission expert group on payment systems, the Payment Systems Market Expert Group (PSMEG). The application deadline is 12 January 2026. The mandate of the PSMEG, originally set until 31 December 2025 by Commission Decision 2011/C 253/04, as amended by Decision 2021/C 52 I/02, has recently been extended until 31 December 2030 by Commission Decision C/2025/4118. My application therefore relates to this extended mandate.

Additional Information

I have no need for funding for the PSMEG activity, if appointed. The only cost will be the use of my own time, which I will not charge.
