Mission & Goals

PET EUROPE is a non-profit trade association that represents the European PET resin producers. PET EUROPE represents an industry with a capacity of 2.6 million tonnes of Virgin PET (vPET) per year. PET EUROPE supports sustainable growth of PET manufacturing in Europe.

The collective goal, in line with the European Commission, is to assure European citizens’ access to safe food and drink packaging 2023 - FEEDBACK FROM PET EUROPE ON THE COMMISSION PROPOSAL ON MEASURES TO REDUCE MICROPLASTIC POLLUTION FROM PLASTIC PELLETS 2023 - PET EUROPE signed Antwerp Declaration March 2024 - 01/24: PET EUROPE co-signed a joint industry statement from the Packaging Value Chain opposing the introduction of any reference to “state-run producer responsibility organisations” in the PPWR. - 02/24: PET EUROPE co-signed a joint final joint industry statement on reuse targets for transport packaging, drafted by Plastics Europe and signed by 18 organisations, calling on policy makers to set effective and realistic reuse measures for transport packaging in the ongoing PPWR negotiations. It emphasised that disproportionate and unfeasible targets could undermine transport safety, disrupt supply chains and affect the efficiency of logistics and business operations. - 04/24: PET EUROPE joined 85 European and national industry associations while signed the Joint European Industry Manifesto calling for a strategic plan to boost competitiveness and prevent deindustrialisation by unlocking the Single Market’s full potential and ensuring a supportive regulatory environment. - 06/24: PET EUROPE co-signed a joint industry letter urging the EU Commission to ensure the timely implementation of the PPWR by allocating adequate resources and establishing effective processes for preparing the secondary legislation and guidance documents. 01/25: PET EUROPE co-signed a joint industry position on the Legislative Proposal on Preventing Plastic Pellet Losses to the Environment. 03/25: PET EUROPE issued a Statement on the Impact of Antimony Export Controls on European PET Production. 03/25: PET EUROPE co-signed Joint Industry Call for Clarification on Art. 25 and Annex V.1 in the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40. 05/25: PET EUROPE supported a Joint Industry Statement on State-run Producer Responsibility Organizations 06/25: PET EUROPE co-signed a Joint Industry Statement on Harmonised Waste Sorting Instructions for Packaging. 08/25: PET EUROPE submitted feedback to the Public Consultation on the EU rules for calculating, verifying and reporting on recycled plastic content in single-use plastic beverage bottles (SUP). 09/25: PET EUROPE co-signed an urgent Call for Legal Clarity and Enforceable Implementation of the PPWR Joint Industry Statement on Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation 09/25: PET EUROPE engaged in a Joint Industry Statement in view of the upcoming New Circular Economy Act. 10/25: PET EUROPE joined an urgent call on Safeguarding EU plastic recycling industry through post-consumer plastic waste definition 11/25: PET EUROPE co-signed Joint Industry Statement on Slovakia’s Proposed Amendment to the Environmental Fund Act 11/25: PET EUROPE submitted feedback to the Public Consultation on the Circular Economy Act (CEA). 12/25: PET EUROPE applied to join the Critical Chemicals Alliance (CCA).
