Mission & Goals

Perpetuum Mobile (PM) is an international NGO at the intersection of the arts, human rights, curatorial practice and inquiry. Co-founded by Marita Muukkonen and Ivor Stodolsky (mentioned in alternating order) in 2007, PM acts as a conduit and engine to re-imagine practical, historical and theoretical paradigms in fields which often exist in disparate institutional frames and territories. PM has worked extensively in the Nordic, European and global field. It initiates, develops and curates long-term platforms such as Artists at Risk (AR), Ecologists at Risk (AR) and The Arts Assembly. These have grown into organisations with their own extensive practices and procedures, residencies, small and large exhibitions, public art, forms of resilience, training and healing, conferences, festivals, publications, films and innovative formats.
