Mission & Goals
Alicante Science Park, a foundation established by the University of Alicante, is the leading innovation ecosystem in the province. Its mission is to drive technological development, foster collaboration between academia and industry, and support the growth of innovative companies. The Park unites 52 affiliated firms, including 13 university spin-offs and six graduate-founded start-ups, in sectors such as ICT, biotechnology, and the circular economy. In 2024, the affilated companies enerated €258M in revenue, employed over 2,000 people, and invested €14M in R&D with 160 researchers. The Park provides access to funding, marketing, open innovation, and corporate mentoring, while promoting talent recruitment and joint R&D projects. Located on the University’s West Campus, it offers co-working, offices, laboratories, and industrial units, hosting 29 resident companies in over 3,800 m² of specialised facilities.
EU Legislative Interests
1. Competitiveness, innovation, and scale-up support 1.1 EU Start-up and Scale-up Strategy and the Single Market Strategy will be key to help PCA-based companies grow, access finance, and operate seamlessly across borders. 1.2 AI Continent Action Plan, Quantum Strategy, and the Digital Networks Act are directly linked to PCA’s focus on digital transformation, advanced technologies, and high-capacity infrastructure for deeptech firms. 1.3 Competitiveness Compass and the Clean Industrial Deal (including affordable energy, circular economy, and industrial decarbonisation) will boost the conditions for innovative SMEs and industrial R&D. 2. Knowledge valorisation, research, and internationalisation 2.1 Bioeconomy Strategy and the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan open opportunities for joint projects in green and circular innovation, areas where PCA can link academia and industry. 2.2 European Business Wallet and the Savings and Investments Union can facilitate investment attraction and cross-border collaborations. 2.3 Pact for the Mediterranean is strategically relevant given Alicante’s geographical position and PCA’s potential as a hub for EU–Mediterranean innovation cooperation. 3. Environmental and societal challenges with regional impact 3.1 European Water Resilience Strategy directly relates to Alicante’s water scarcity challenge, a likely candidate for EU-wide innovation calls. 3.2 Vision for Agriculture and Food and Ocean Pact open niches for agri-foodtech and blue economy innovations supported by PCA companies. 3.3 Union of Skills and the new European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan provide a framework for talent development in science and technology sectors.
Communication Activities
Alicante Science Park has carried out an extensive range of communication activities connected to its core innovation and business support mission: EVENTS: The Alicante Science Park organised or hosted 18 major events in the first half of 2025, attracting over 1,300 participants. Highlights include Mediterranean Future Innovation, Water Positive, Tech Day Alicante, GameJam Alicante 2025, the Gala Premios Impulso 2025, and Venture on the Road. In April 2025, the manager of Alciante Science Park, esteban Pelayo took part as speaker in an podcast recorded by DG RTD fo rthe Knowledge Valorisation Platform. In July 2025 we hosted a one-day visit of more than 150 staff of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). These events positioned the Alicanet Science Park as a hub for entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and sector-specific innovation such as water management and AI. PUBLICATIONS: In the same period, the Alicante Science Park published over 250 social media posts generating 270,000+ impressions and 17,600 interactions, 15 blog entries on its website, and 52 news articles covering innovation projects, startup milestones, and collaborative initiatives. The park also produces audiovisual content (50 YouTube videos in six months) and maintains the PCA InnoNews channel and a weekly newsletter to more than 1,500 subscribers. PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS: The Alicante Science Park has leveraged its communication tools to showcase European projects such as CO-VALUE and LETSGROW, highlight international collaborations, and disseminate results from UA:emprende and Startup Innovation programmes. Strategic media agreements with Alicante Plaza, El Español, and Economía 3 have amplified its reach, resulting in over 100 press mentions.

The Alicante Science Park is an active member of four key organisations that strengthen its strategic positioning and networking capacity: IASP – International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, the global network connecting innovation ecosystems worldwide. APTE – Asociación de Parques Científicos y Tecnológicos de España, which brings together over 50 science and technology parks across Spain to foster innovation, knowledge transfer, and business growth. CEV – Confederación Empresarial de la Comunitat Valenciana, the main employers’ association in the Valencian Community, enhancing business competitiveness and influence in regional economic policy. FEPEVAL – Federación de Parques Empresariales de la Comunidad Valenciana, a network that promotes cooperation and development among business and industrial parks in the region.
