Mission & Goals
As Oy ve Ötesi (Vote and Beyond), our objective is the establishment of participatory democracy and its culture in Türkiye. With this objective, we work to strengthen the civil participation in elections through non-partisan election monitoring since our foundation in 2014. We organise a non-partisan civilian election monitoring campaign whereby ordinary citizens are trained in the legal aspects of election law to monitor the voting and counting process during elections. In eleven elections between 2014 and 2024, we organised a total over 400k volunteers with 200k volunteers in the field in the Second Round of 2023 Presidential Elections on 28 May 2023. We additionally hold seminars and conduct workshops to enhance democratic culture in the country.

Oy ve Ötesi was invited to participate in “Building Institutional Resilience: Countering Hybrid Threats to Elections” by the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE). Oy ve Ötesi is a non-partisan civil movement of volunteer citizens mobilised to monitor elections in Turkey. Our purpose is to ensure that the elections are fair and the results are in line with people’s choices. With our volunteers, we observe the election process, gather result data from the ballot boxes and compare the result with the officially announced results. Oy ve Ötesi has been organising volunteers to monitor and observe the election process since 2014. We had 200.000 volunteers in 2023 general elections, across the country. The final Local Elections, held on 31 March 2024, was our association’s 11th election monitoring campaign. We are in touch with all the political parties but remain non-partisan and independent and have no affiliation with any party or political view.
