Mission & Goals
Oxfam is a global movement of people who are fighting inequality to end poverty and injustice. Across regions, from the local to the global, we work with people to bring change that lasts. Our work is grounded in the commitment to the universality of human rights. Driven by diversity and founding our asks in evidence and experience, we take sides against poverty and injustice everywhere. Feminist approaches guide all our analysis, action and interaction. We are working across regions in about 70 countries, with thousands of partners, and allies, supporting communities to build better lives for themselves, grow resilience and protect lives and livelihoods also in times of crisis. Our ambition is lasting impact. We make a difference by being part of a global movement for social justice.
EU Legislative Interests
Oxfam International’s European Union office in Brussels works to influence key decision-makers to ensure that EU policies affecting poor countries have a far reaching, positive impact on the lives of those most in need. Our work spans numerous policy areas including food security, climate change, development policy and finance, and the provision of humanitarian assistance to victims of conflicts and natural disasters. The EU office works together with Oxfam’s nine European affiliates in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Belgium,The Netherlands and Denmark. We also join forces with allied NGOs and civil society organizations.

Member Of
The OI EU Advocacy and Campaigning Office is part of OXFAM International In 1995 a group of independent non-governmental organizations came together to share knowledge and resources and combine their efforts in the fight against poverty and injustice. They formed a foundation (“Stichting” in Dutch): Stichting Oxfam International knowing that by joining forces as a global confederation they could maximize efficiency, impact, and reach. There are currently 21 member organizations, our affiliates, who coordinate and lead this fight via the Oxfam International Secretariat. Each affiliate is an independent organization with its own areas of activity and work contributing its own strengths and expertise to the confederation to achieve our shared goals. The foundation provides a medium to agree on which priorities and aims they hold in common, and how to achieve them. It also supports and makes possible affiliate collaboration on shared projects.
