Mission & Goals
Oxfam-in-Belgium is a consolidated organization representing three legal entities: Oxfam-Solidarité, Oxfam-Magasins du Monde, and Oxfam-Wereldwinkels. Oxfam-in-Belgium is a member of the international confederation Oxfam. - Oxfam-Solidarité fights against injustice and poverty through development programs, humanitarian aid, and campaigning. - Oxfam-Magasins du Monde and its activist movement in Brussels and Wallonia promote an alternative model of consumption and production. The organization conducts awareness campaigns and sells fair trade products and second-hand clothing in its shops. - Oxfam Wereldwinkels raises public awareness in Flanders and Brussels about the inequalities of current international trade and offers consumers an alternative by promoting fair trade.
EU Legislative Interests
Oxfam-Solidarité/Solidariteit works to influence key decision-makers to ensure that EU policies affecting poor countries have a far reaching, positive impact on the lives of those most in need. Our work spans numerous policy areas including food security, climate change, development policy & finance, provision of humanitarian assistance to victims of conflicts and natural disasters. We work together with Oxfam International's EU office in Brussels, and we also join forces with allied NGOs and civil society organizations. Communication Activities
Oxfam-Magasins du Monde: Campaign on donut economy, asking for (trade) policies compatible with social and environmental boundaries. Campaign on Climate Justice. HREDD. Campaign 2024: "(Re)prenons en main notre alimentation!" + "« Je vote pour une commune du commerce équitable ! ». Campaign 2025: « Les femmes au cœur du commerce équitable ». Oxfam-Solidarité/Solidariteit and Oxfam-Wereldwinkels engage together in campaigns and communication on economic justice issues such as climate justice, fiscal justice, rights in crisis and the impact of global value chains on the global south.
