EU Legislative Interests

O.P.I.A. is a romanian defence national Association interested in Participation EU supported forums and platforms such as European Defence Info Days, EDA Defence Industry Workshops related to Defence Funding Opportunties We do not have Commission Expert groups members We are have not requested meeting with Decision Makers of EU level Commissioners; We commit we wont use neither the name nor the logo of the European Parliament if our members participate on Parliament’s premises related events; OPIA Main EU legislative proposals or policies targeted are related to our interest in how our members could be updated regarding future EU funded activities to be found in the Defence Sector of the European Defence Industry Programmes: Our main interest would be in legislative changes and policies regarding the Defence Sector Industrial Developtment: Defence Readiness Omnibus (June 2025) ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030 Security Action for Europe (SAFE) (May 2025) Defence-Readiness Projects Acceleration European Defence Fund (EDF) 2026

Communication Activities

Participation in defence industry activities organized by EU Institutions: EDF Info Days (March 10-11, 2026): Held in Brussels and online, this event provides information on the 2026 European Defence Fund (EDF) work programme, including calls for proposals and networking. First EUDIS Defence Hackathon (March 26-28, 2026): A pan-European hackathon targeting innovative solutions for defence. EUDIS Business Accelerator Spring Cohort (Starts March 2026): Supporting SMEs and startups in the defence sector. SAFE Loan Finalization (March 2026): First payments from the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) initiative, totaling €150 billion in loans for member states, are expected to begin. Stakeholder Consultation (February 26, 2026): A hybrid, English/Polish meeting regarding the European Defence Industry Transformation Roadmap. Webinar: Battlefield Redefined 2026 (February 26, 2026): Hosted by DG DEFIS regarding dual-use technologies

The Romanian Defence Shareholders Association (OPIA) was part of the ASD Europe till aprill 2025, for a period of 2 years. Currently not a member. OPIA is having representatives nominated as Romanian National Delegates in the NATO Industrial Advisory Group functioning under the Conference of National Armaments of NATO. We are not member of Co-federations in Romania or any other Country.

Additional Information

OPIA has around 40 companies which are paying an monthly fee of 50 euro/ month. Our annual contribution of the members is arrounf 24.000 euro annually. We are non-profit and the personal involved in the Association are non payed or reimbursed. The money is used for paying operational needs.
