Mission & Goals
OPITO is the global skills, standards and workforce development organisation for the energy industry. Established to support the offshore oil and gas sector, OPITO’s remit has evolved to reflect the changing nature of the global energy system, while remaining anchored in its core purpose: to ensure a safe, competent and globally mobile energy workforce. At its heart, OPITO exists to protect people, assets and the environment by setting and maintaining internationally recognised safety and competence standards. Its training standards, assurance frameworks and quality systems underpin critical safety-related roles across offshore and onshore operations worldwide. Through a rigorous approval and audit regime, OPITO ensures that training delivered by approved centres meets consistent, high-quality benchmarks, giving employers and workers confidence that skills are transferable, credible and fit for purpose.
