Mission & Goals
The OUNL develops and provides open higher distance and online education. There is a special focus on the use of new information technologies and of teaching and learning methods to provide effective, efficient, attractive and accessible lifelong learning facilities and education to the Dutch citizens.
EU Legislative Interests
Relevant EU-initiatives in the area of research, innovation and education, including: Horizon Europe; Erasmus+, European Higher Education Area, European Research Area, Digital Education Action Plan, European Skills Agenda, etc.
Communication Activities
Open Universiteit The Netherlands is member of EADTU, Europe's leading institutional association for online, open & distance higher education. EADTU's mission is to empower and support its members by: supporting the development of online, open and flexible higher education; developing and sustaining sectoral leadership at national, European and international level; leveraging its quality assurance capabilities by creating an internationally recognized quality system in online, open and flexible higher education. Communication activities are mostly in collaboration with EADTU. Moreover, Open Universiteit The Netherlands contributes to the communication of Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL), the network of Dutch Universities.
