Mission & Goals
The Observatory of Cultural Economics (OCE) is a Sofia-based research center and think tank which shapes national cultural policy analysis and advances economic analysis in culture and creative sectors and industries in Bulgaria. OCE supports cultural practitioners and organizations in contributing to policy-making and fosters cultural economics research, knowledge and exchange nationally and internationally. OCE’s work includes applied research, comparative analyses, data collection, analysis and dissemination on Bulgaria’s CCI sectors; it offers consultancy and advocacy support, training and education, and organizing seminars and conferences for Bulgarian CCIs, policymakers and stakeholders. OCE develops cultural policy indicators; since 2010, in partnership with Sofia Municipality, it conducts annual mapping of Sofia’s CCIS and updates Bulgaria’s cultural policy profile for the Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends.
