Mission & Goals
A Nyugat.hu 1999-ben indult mint Magyarország első online médiája és már 25 éve teljeskörű tájékoztatást ad Vas megyéről. Régiónkban ma is minket olvasnak a legtöbben, politikai hovatartozástól függetlenül, ezzel a Nyugat.hu a legolvasottabb vidéki független médium. Regionális fókuszú médiaként is több ügyet mi tártunk az országos nyilvánosság elé. Például precendenst teremtettünk egy alkotmánybírósági döntéssel, miszerint a média nem felelős a politikusi hazugságokért, vagy 2022-ben a magyar vidéki média helyzetéről a Nyugat.hu számolt be Strasbourgban, az Európa Tanács megkeresésére, és 2023-ban megkaptuk a Magyar Sajtódíjat. Kiadónk, a Nyugat Média és Világháló Közhasznú Egyesület kizárólag civilekből áll és része a független magyar sajtónak, amely nem kötött kompromisszumot a hatalommal. Olvasóink alaposnak és objektívnek tartanak bennünket és a visszajelzésük szerint hitelesen, függetlenül és objektíven tájékoztatunk.

Member Of
The association is a member of the Hungarian Publishers Association (http://mle.org.hu/). Several of its journalists are members of the Hungarian Journalists Association (https://muosz.hu/) as well as international press organizations such as IPI (https://ipi.media/) and IFJ (https://www.ifj.org/). Nyugat Media and World Wide Web Association is the publisher of several online publications (nyugat.hu, enyugat.hu, nyu.hu, szabadhirek.hu). We are the owners of the Szabadhirek brand, the website (domain) and the Facebook page also belongs to the association.
Organisation Members
The association has 10 members, 3 of them are board members according to the articles of association. Our organisation is also in constant professional contact with a number of other Hungarian organisations, such as: Centre for Independent Journalism The Hungarian Helsinki Committee Hungarian Civil Liberties Union Transparency International Hungary. None of them are affiliated entities.

In the last closed financial year (2024), the association's budget was 347 077€ equivalent HUF. Our association is based on three main pillars, approximately 60% from grants (public calls for proposals for institutional grants), 30% from advertising (advertisements our website) revenue and around 5-10% from reader donations. The total amount of this EU funding (CREA) for our organisation is 82311€ over 2 years. The breakdown of this is: 17285€ in 2023, 11524 and 17285 euros in 2024, and 11524 and 24693 euros in 2025.
