Mission & Goals
Novandino Lithium specializes in the production of lithium, a mineral used in batteries and other energy‑transition applications, and potassium, a feedstock for specialty fertilizers. It is a joint venture between the Chilean companies SQM and Codelco (see: https://acuerdocodelcosqm.cl/). The company forms part of the SQM group. Novandino Lithium operates a lithium concession in the Salar de Atacama until 2060 and operates the only lithium mining operation currently certified at IRMA 75 level. In the context of the EU‑Chile Free Trade Agreement and the EU‑Chile Critical Raw Materials Partnership, Novandino engages with EU stakeholders to advance a resilient, responsible and low-carbon battery and electromobility value chain in Europe. As one of the biggest lithium producers in the world, the company participates in leading voluntary due diligence schemes, including IRMA, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) and the Global Battery Alliance (GBA).
