EU Legislative Interests

EU Space Programme: NorthStar Earth & Space will seek to influence the EU Space Programme to promote the interests of the European space sector, including the SSA market. By actively participating in the formulation of this legislation, NorthStar aims to ensure that the EU Space Programme allocates adequate resources and support for the development and enhancement of SSA capabilities. This includes fostering collaboration among EU member states and stakeholders, promoting data sharing and information exchange, and facilitating the integration of SSA technologies and services into the broader space infrastructure. EU Space Strategy for Security and Defence: NorthStar Earth & Space recognizes the vital role of SSA in space-based security and defense. By influencing the EU Space Strategy for Security and Defence, the organization aims to advocate for the integration of advanced SSA technologies, such as space-based sensors, data analytics, and space traffic management systems. This involvement will contribute to improving Europe's situational awareness, enhancing space surveillance capabilities, and bolstering the security and defense of European space assets and infrastructure. EU Strategy for Security & Defence: NorthStar Earth & Space will engage with the EU Strategy for Security & Defence to ensure that SSA-related aspects receive due attention. The organization aims to advocate for the inclusion of SSA as a critical component of Europe's security and defense framework. NorthStar seeks to contribute to the development of comprehensive and robust SSA policies and initiatives. Future Proposal for EU Space Law: NorthStar Earth & Space aims to influence the future proposal for EU Space Law to address the evolving needs of the SSA market. The organization will advocate for regulatory frameworks that support the growth and innovation of SSA technologies and services. This includes considerations such as data sharing mechanisms, standardization of SSA practices, liability and insurance frameworks, and international cooperation in SSA efforts. By actively participating in the law-making process, NorthStar aims to shape a legal framework that fosters the sustainable development and utilization of SSA capabilities in Europe.

Communication Activities

None as yet. NorthStar is a Start-Up and SME which is commencing its activities in the EU. The Luxembourg government is an investor in NorthStar and the company initially started its first R&d contract involving the Luxembourg Space Agency.

Space Canada https://www.space-canada.ca/ NorthStar also works with the European Space Agency via its agreement with the Luxembourg Space Agency. SIAA - Space Industry Association of Austrlia (https://www.spaceindustry.com.au/) NorthStar Chief Scientist is leading the Space Situational Awareness Working Group launched by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), under the National Geospatial Agency (NGA).

Telespazio Spa is acting as a reseller of NorthStar products and services to European Departments of Defence. https://northstar-data.com/new-space-domain-awareness-services-for-european-governments-provided-by-a-northstar-and-telespazio-partnership/ Spire Global provides a satellite as a service to NorthStar having manufactured, launched and operated the first four satellites of NorthStar's satellite constellation.
