Mission & Goals
North Sea Port is the result of a merger between the Dutch Zeeland Seaports (Vlissingen and Terneuzen) and the Flemish/Belgian port of Ghent. The shareholders are involved and informed by means of a shareholders' committee. North Sea Port is a Top European port: no. 9 among European seaports (measured in volume of goods), no. 6 in the Hamburg - Le Havre range (measured in volume of goods) and no. 3 for added value (in the amount of 12.7 billion euros).
EU Legislative Interests
In general: Policies and proposals about transport, logistics, energy, digitalisation, (future of) mobility, etc. Specific examples: - TEN-E - TEN-T - Port Regulation - EU state aid - Transport White Paper Revision
Communication Activities
We are involved in many (cross-border related) projects. One project which could serve as an example of implementation of TEN-T policy through CEF funding is Rail Ghent Terneuzen (www.railghentterneuzen.eu). The implementation study has been funded through the CEF program (2016-EU-TA-0174-S). But there are also relevant key projects related to TEN E such as several CO2 transport projects in the North Sea Port area. These are projects that can serve as key projects for funding under the CEF Energy.
