Mission & Goals
The Nordic Wood Preservation Council (NWPC) is a non-profit association that develops, maintains and governs the NTR Wood Durability Quality System—a voluntary industrial certification scheme designed to improve the biological durability and extend the service life of wood materials and products. The NTR system is grounded in European standards (EN 335, EN 351, EN 599) and international conformity principles (EN ISO/IEC 17065), integrating scientific research and industry best practice through collaboration with producers, suppliers, control bodies, and national associations. NWPC issues and manages the NTR standards as a recognised benchmark for durable wood across the Nordic region and selected European markets. Through third-party quality assurance, independent certification, and stakeholder education, NWPC enhances trust in wood as a sustainable and high-performing construction material. The NTR mark signifies compliance with stringent requirements and is a symbol of quality.
