Mission & Goals
Northern Graphite is focused on the responsible development, processing, and supply of natural graphite to support resilient, sustainable battery and industrial value chains. Our remit includes developing integrated upstream and midstream capabilities, including a Battery Anode Materials (BAM) processing facility in France, to contribute to EU objectives under the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA). We aim to ensure secure, transparent, and low‑carbon graphite supply for European manufacturers, while applying high environmental, social, and governance standards. Our activities include project development, technological process optimisation, strategic partnerships, and compliance with EU regulatory and sustainability requirements.
EU Legislative Interests
We follow the development and implementation of the following EU legislative acts because they are relevant to the future permitting, sustainability, and market access conditions for our graphite extraction and processing projects: • Regulation (EU) 2024/1252 of 11 April 2024 establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, as it sets the rules for strategic project designation, permitting timelines, and third‑country partnerships relevant to our planned graphite value chain. • Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of 12 July 2023 concerning batteries and waste batteries, particularly its requirements on carbon‑footprint declarations, due‑diligence for key raw materials, and digital battery passport obligations, which influence specifications for anode‑grade natural graphite. • Directive (EU) 2024/1760 of 13 June 2024 on corporate sustainability due diligence, because it introduces mandatory environmental and human‑rights due‑diligence obligations across supply chains, relevant for responsibly sourcing natural graphite and ensuring traceability. • Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU, as its environmental‑impact assessment requirements apply to the permitting of our planned processing operations in the EU.

Member Of
NCG Battery Materials is a German entity established in 2024 and part of Northern Graphite Corporation. As the group’s dedicated German organization for battery‑materials development, we support Northern Graphite’s integrated mine‑to‑battery approach, which links responsible natural‑graphite extraction with advanced processing for battery applications. Northern Graphite Corporation, our Canadian parent company, provides overall governance, strategic direction and corporate oversight, while NCG Battery Materials is responsible for the implementation and day‑to‑day execution of downstream processing activities within Germany and the wider European market. Northern Graphite is a member of the European Carbon and Graphite Association (ECGA), an industry association representing companies active in the production, processing and application of carbon and graphite materials. Our participation in ECGA is limited to industry‑related cooperation, information exchange and sectoral representation on technical and regulatory topics relevant to graphite value chains.
